641 arrested in 26 days in Gazipur Devil Hunt operation

In the last 26 days, 611 people have been arrested in ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ in Gazipur. Of these, the Gazipur Metropolitan Police has arrested 474 people and the district police 167 people. They have been arrested till Tuesday night since the operation began on February 8.

Alamgir Hossain, Deputy Police Commissioner (Special Branch) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, said that 22 people were arrested in a new operation last night. In this regard, 474 people have been arrested in the last 26 days.

On the other hand, the district Superintendent of Police Chowdhury Jaber Sadek said that four people were arrested in different areas on Tuesday night. The district police has arrested 167 people so far in the Devil Hunt operation. All of them are involved in Awami League politics.

On the night of February 7, anti-discrimination students were attacked and beaten at the house of former minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Dhirashram Dakshinkhan area of ​​Gazipur city. 20 students were injured in this. One of them, Abul Kashem, died while undergoing treatment. The day after the incident, on February 8, the joint forces began conducting ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ across the country, including Gazipur.
